Defence Equipment and Support receives award from Bridgwater and Taunton College

Defence Equipment and Support has won Bridgwater and Taunton College’s (BTC) Large Employer of the Year award thanks to its Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship scheme.
The award recognises an employer which showcases its dedication and demonstrates the success apprenticeships have brought to their organisation.
With its headquarters at Abbey Wood, Bristol, DE&S is the procurement arm of the Ministry of Defence, supporting and equipping the UK Armed Forces.
It employs more than 400 apprentices, many of whom study at BTC during the first year of their apprenticeship, learning and developing skills for a long and successful career within either DE&S or its sister organisation, the Submarine Delivery Agency.
Having been nominated by the engineering contracts manager at BTC, DE&S was up against strong competition with 13 other nominations submitted for organisations such as Wessex Water, Mars/Royal Canin and EDF.
DE&S was declared the winner having demonstrated ongoing commitment by giving apprentices excellent opportunities, recruiting dedicated scheme managers and maintaining a close working relationship with BTC.

The award is valid for the coming year, meaning DE&S will be advertised as ‘Large Employer of the Year’ on BTC’s social media, in its public relations material and at physical events such as BTC welcome evenings.
