Every equipment programme, every bit of kit, every UK military operation no matter where it is in the world across land, sea and air, is also backed by the support we provide 24/7, 365 days of the year
The UK and our allies face increasing threats to our security and way of life. Our armed forces protect us from these threats, but they can only do that if they have the right equipment and, just as importantly, support, to carry out their duties.
Our continuous support of UK military operations around the world is DE&S’ top priority, meeting the full spectrum of defence needs, from bullets and boots to fighter jets, battle tanks to aircraft carriers and everything in between. This is every bit as vital as procuring the equipment itself. We ensure it is safely sourced, delivered and maintained.
From providing vital battle-winning equipment, medical supplies, uniforms, ammunition and new, fast paced procurements, we continue to support Ukraine’s fight against Russian invasion.
We have also supported operations across the globe including Royal Navy operations to protect maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Royal Air Force (RAF) strikes against Houthi sites in Yemen, and the RAF’s humanitarian aid to Gaza.
And we provided extensive support to Exercise Steadfast Defender, NATO’s largest military exercise since the Cold War. We ensured that Royal Navy ships and aircraft were available for deployment through the provision of food, spares and clothing, and for the land element of Steadfast Defender we helped to mobilise more than 2,000 vehicles to take part in the exercise.
We don’t work in isolation. As a professional defence acquisition and support organisation, DE&S works together with our Front-line Commands and the global defence industry, as well as MOD Head Office, other MOD agencies, other Government Departments and allies to deliver world class support services to the UK’s armed forces.
Our close partnerships with Front-line Commands and the global defence industry also supports the UK’s “One Defence” pledge to deliver, maintain and support safe and reliable equipment to meet the needs of UK sailors, soldiers and aviators world-wide.
