Are you ready to elevate your career and make a real impact? Join our Defence Munitions (DM) team at DM Beith, where you’ll take on a vital leadership role at the heart of UK’s defence operations. As an Engineering Production Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team responsible for the functional testing, diagnostics, repair and modification of a wide array of complex weapon systems. Your technical expertise will be essential in managing the planning, scheduling, and execution of production, maintenance, and training activities that keep our forces mission-ready.

This is a 100% site-based role that offers the opportunity to travel to other Defence Munitions and DE&S locations across the UK and internationally. Travel is planned with reasonable notice and a strong commitment to flexibility and family-friendly practices. Travel and subsistence expenses are covered.
Interviews will be conducted face to face at Defence Munitions Beith.

What you’ll be doing
- Oversee a team responsible for assembling, maintaining, and testing complex weapons and equipment
- Deliver high-quality diagnostics while ensuring strict adherence to build standards and configuration control
- Provide technical and engineering advice to both internal and external stakeholders, assessing the impact of technical decisions before implementation
- Ensure all facilities and equipment meet legal and mandatory standards before work begins, and manage risks to keep them as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP)
- Foster and maintain a strong, positive safety culture
- Manage staff performance, including workflow allocation, production reporting, and technical training to meet operational demands and service expectations
- Promote continuous improvement, lessons learned, and lean processes, encouraging flexibility and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Recognised indentured apprenticeship or service equivalent –Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in mechanical or electrical Engineering.
- Minimum National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)/ Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 3 within the specialisation or equivalent.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement with internal and external personnel
- Experience of leading teams and mentoring people within an engineering environment
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
- Technical decision making – Supervised Practitioner level
- Enhancing Service Support Systems – Practitioner level
- Delivering at pace – CSBC3
- Working together – CSBC3
