Our CEO, Andy Start, has reflected on his attendance at the Washington DC summit with heads of government of the 32 members of NATO, including new UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden, and the European Union.

The summit was to commemorate the landmark 75th anniversary of NATO and focused on the response to escalating global threats to peace and democracies, with particular attention to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and efforts to boost defence production while reaffirming allies’ commitment to military readiness and the defence of all of NATO’s territory.

Andy, who addressed the NATO Defence Industry Forum in Washington, said:

“The United Kingdom’s commitment to NATO, to Ukraine, and to our armed forces remains as strong as ever. The UK MOD is focused on collaborating with the UK’s allies from across the globe to ensure our nations are safe and prosperous.”

He added:

“Ever since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine I’ve been impressed and incredibly proud of how NATO has become more aligned, more integrated, more interoperable, and more capable than at any time in the last 20 years.

“NATO is stronger. Our newest allies Finland and Sweden provide strength in terms of their armed forces, their equipment, and their acquisition capability.”
