Job description for Senior Business Analyst
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our dynamic and collaborative team. As part of our Business Analyst Skills Group, you will play a pivotal role in leading and contributing to a variety of high-impact projects within the Defence sector, driving business improvements and delivering innovative solutions. We are working to reduce the time it takes to design and deliver equipment to the armed forces through the adoption of digital engineering techniques to ensure the equipment we buy works as part of a coherent system with existing platforms within the UK Armed Forces. To spearhead this transformation we’ve established three Capability Centres. Each Capability Centre has a unique focus, playing a crucial role in developing our future transformative digital capabilities. Through collaboration and innovation, this exceptional team will help us maintain our strategic edge over adversaries, both now and in the future. We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required (this is expected to be approximately 60% of your working week) to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance and business need. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.
What you’ll be doing
· Lead a team of Business Analysts on projects to ensure high quality work is delivered that meets the needs of the business.
· Awareness of strategic direction of IMIT for projects visibility of landscape and understands the context projects are operating in, to mitigate downstream impacts.
· Investigate and analyse complex business needs to identify and evaluate options for improving business systems on large projects.
· Lead detailed requirements gather and analysis to inform the development of new or improved business solutions.
· Contribute to the development, maintenance and review of policies, procedures and initiatives which relate to Business Analysis.
· Create and iterate viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.
· Produce complex business models and assist in the preparation of business cases to support change and innovation.
· Brief senior stakeholders and non-technical colleagues on results and options produced from analysis to ensure full understanding of any findings.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
· Leading/Managing business analysis activities across multiple change portfolio initiatives which align with organisational strategic objectives
· Strong experience successfully leading a team of Business Analysts
· BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis or ability to demonstrate you hold the relevant 2 core modules, 1 knowledge based module and 1 Practitioner based module
· Evidence of involvement in the full project lifecycle
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
