Why I Chose DE&S:
I joined the Digital Technology Degree Apprentice straight from my A-levels as the opportunity seemed too good to pass up. Although I’m only six months in, I can confidently say it has been a rewarding experience and joining the scheme is a decision I'm glad I made.
Real Projects, Real Impact: Developing My Skills in Cyber Security
One of the things I love about this apprenticeship is working on different projects while studying. It's great seeing my work actually being used in the organisation. Currently, I'm immersed in cyber security projects, interacting with others across DE&S and the Navy to learn from their experience and expertise. I’m also delving into a fascinating research project on Artificial Intelligence, developing a masterclass to share the knowledge I’ve learnt with others in the organisation.
Inspiring Future Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) talent
Beyond my core projects, I've had the opportunity to engage in outreach events organised by DE&S. From teaching secondary school students robotic basics using Lego spike kits, to hosting a catapult building challenge at a careers event; these experiences have been both fulfilling and educational. I've also had the privilege of discussing the exciting opportunities in science and technology with students, aiming to inspire them to pursue careers in STEM.
