Our apprenticeship application process

Found the apprenticeship for you? Great! Complete an initial online application

Submit a full application and upload your CV (please note the specific CV requirements on the job advert).

Top scoring candidates will be invited to an assessment centre in Bristol, where you’ll undertake an interview and group exercises. This is your chance to shine.

Congratulations! We think you’ll be a great fit for DE&S. We’ll offer you a place on your chosen apprenticeship subject to you obtaining satisfactory grades, your references, security and health checks.

Before you can join us, we need to check a few things. All our roles require Security Check (SC) security clearance as a minimum. This might take a while, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us. Once you’ve passed all checks, we’ll be back in touch to arrange your start date and issue your formal paperwork.

Yes. Should you require support with the application process you can contact our Entry Talent team at deshr-etcoe-recruitment@mod.gov.uk

Yes, you can submit an application for more than one role.

DE&S is currently operating a Smarter Working Policy, where hybrid working may be available depending on your placement/project.

However, we cannot specifically advise in advance of you joining the organisation. It could mean being situated in office three times a week, or twice a month. We strongly encourage face-to-face collaboration to network with your peers and gain further experience.

You will be able to discuss your daily working hours with your Delivery Manager on starting.

DE&S are unable to offer relocation reimbursement fees currently. Depending on the scheme you have applied for, you may need to relocate to attend our Abbey Wood site in Bristol.

DE&S do not provide accommodation. However, there may be the opportunity to be put in touch with other members of your cohort during the on boarding stage to build relationships and potentially discuss accommodation solutions. This will be included within our Keeping in Touch communications along the way.

You can find starting salary details on the specific scheme web pages. Unfortunately, there are no salary negotiations for our Apprenticeships.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a place to those who do not meet the entry requirements for the scheme.

DE&S does not offer visa sponsorships for roles under the UK Government’s Right to Work scheme. If you require a visa to be entitled to work in the UK, it is your responsibility to renew your visa to ensure your continued Right to Work. DE&S will not sponsor your visa for any of our apprenticeships.
