Project Description
Sentinel has performed essential surveillance duties during recent operations, giving UK commanders a true, detailed picture of the battlefields of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.
Sentinel at a glance
- Sentinel has a crew of five, including two RAF pilots, a mission commander, and two onboard imagery analysts.
- From their stations on board, the crew can transmit key information directly to UK and NATO forces while airborne.
- It is operated by 5 (Army Cooperation) Squadron, a joint squadron based at RAF Waddington.
- The DE&S Sentinel Capability Sustainment Team, based at MOD Abbey Wood, keeps these essential aircraft flying and equipped in partnership with the RAF and industry.
