The Engineering Services team is seeking a Systems Engineer with the knowledge, skills and experience in Stakeholder engagement, requirements shaping, and engineering planning to enhance our team.  The team enables the delivery of technical services within and across Air, Land and Maritime environments and all engineering disciplines, including safety, environment and security.

As a Systems Engineer, your role in the team will be to manage the end-to-end process from task initiation to completion, working with customers to understand their short to long term needs and shaping their requirements into a formalised programme of work.  Taskings range from the delivery of single engineering outputs to integrated services or capabilities.

You will contribute to business improvement through novel, agile thinking ensuring alignment with Corporate strategy.  You will also have the opportunity to champion innovation across the DE&S Domains ensuring innovations in technology, systems and processes are considered to achieve better value for money for Defence and deliver improved capability to the Armed Forces.

Please note some attendance to the stated site may be required for this position.

Responsibilities for Systems Engineer 

The responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Key responsibility will be driving digitisation into current processes and systems.
  • Business improvement through innovation leading on ‘Dragons Den’ style innovations.
  • Shaping engineering requirements into a contractable scope of work.
  • Supporting delivery teams by understanding their needs and business processes.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience in extracting Stakeholder needs and translating them into a coherent set of requirements for engineering delivery.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying systems thinking, engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in engaging with and influencing Stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Experience in managing engineering tasks/services.
  • Relevant Level 4 (HNC or higher) qualification or equivalent experience in an engineering or science discipline.
