Job description for Senior Analytics Manager

At Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), the Senior Analytics Manager role is focussed on delivery of DE&S MI Solution and/or developing Business Intelligence and Analysis products to inform decision-makers and will require close collaboration with product owners in the business, data, MI and architecture colleagues in DE&S Digital and stakeholders across DE&S and MOD.

This will include regular interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, involves advising customers on complex and contentious issues, introduction of Business Intelligence products (including dashboards and data science outputs) that support decision making across DE&S.

The role would suit a proactive person with a strong track record of managing complex and diverse data sets, whilst using tools and techniques to perform detailed, cross-cutting analysis to identify risks, opportunities and recommendations for senior leadership consideration.

Responsibilities for Senior Analytics Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Interpret Management Information (MI), providing relevant business insights to Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) senior leadership to influence policy and develop solutions to fulfil the overall strategy.
  • Assimilate different types of raw data to draw concise meaningful conclusions from data and to present it in a clear, understandable way, appropriate for the audience.
  • Lead programming and data analysis or statistics, applying relevant languages.
  • Lead the manipulation and analysis of complex, high volume, and high dimensionality Data.
  • Influence the strategic direction of Management Information (MI) & Data Analytics employing innovation to push boundaries.
  • Deliver analytical innovation including methods, models, and techniques to improve Data Quality, Data Integrity, and the use of Big Data
  • Work collaboratively with Data Architects to ensure solutions are aligned with Data Architectural strategy and direction.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Educated to Degree level in relevant field such as Statistics, Information Management, Computing, Engineering, Data Science, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge through work experience.
  • Demonstratable advanced analytical skills: you will need able to provide insight through data analysis and deliver impactful visualisations.
  • Experience of managing complex data sets
