The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) has exciting career opportunities for eager and experienced Engineers to join our most modern and technically advanced projects. There are 11 positions available specialising in several disciplines of engineering across multiple engineering teams. We’ll assess your personality, aptitude, career goals, and your interests to find the best team fit for you!

Due to security requirements, these roles are reserved for sole UK nationals only. Some roles will require the successful applicant to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance after starting.

Responsibilities for SDA Engineer

Due to the variety of the respective positions, key responsibilities will differ relative to specialism and department. If successful, we will look to allocate you to a role based on your skillset, preference, and strengths. When working on SDA projects, the responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Oversee the engineering technical requirements, ensuring requirements placed on our suppliers meet the Royal Navy’s needs and that these are delivered by our suppliers
• Evaluate proposed system designs for new submarines
• Review and approve design changes for submarines in-build
• Identify solutions to defects and obsolescence on in-service submarines to maintain the design intent
• Manage technology development projects and introduce new capabilities to in-service submarines
• Develop specialist knowledge in your field to provide advice

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• HNC (e.g., Level 4 or higher) qualification in a relevant subject or have equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
• Demonstratable experience of providing technical advice and in the delivery of successful engineering outcomes
• Demonstratable technical experience in a relevant discipline or specialist area

It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Experience working in a regulated industry, such as oil & gas, energy, rail, automotive, defence, maritime, aerospace, automotive, nuclear, or similar
