As a Radar Engineer you are responsible to the Chief Engineer, delivering engineering assurance and project safety.  These roles offer you an exciting opportunity to support all of defence domains relating to Air, Land & Sea.  The Radar Engineer will be working in the IBOC (Integrated Battlespace Operating Centre) delivering new radar surveillance and navaid systems for the air traffic management, control of air platforms and air defence environment.

Additionally, one of these posts offer a fantastic and unique opportunity for a Radar Engineer to work within a team that is responsible for working with stakeholders within windfarm industries to identify mitigations and provide solutions on windfarms which affect radar performance.

The successful Radar Engineer can expect to work within one of the following project teams:

*          Marshall
*          ADEWS (Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems)
*          Windfarm Team

Responsibilities for Radar Engineer

The responsibilities of these posts will include, but not be limited to, the following:

As our Radar Engineer, your responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Managing the delivery of all radar engineering aspects including windfarm solutions

Providing expert advice and guidance in radar, or applicable sensor technology, to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks

Managing the technical requirements for the acquisition life-cycle stage of one or more project, programme, service or system

Monitoring and implementing any governance and assurance policies and procedures, to ensure the ‘safe and professional’ status of the area led

Leading on the development of requirements related to radar, or applicable sensor technology, including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications

Interfacing with industry as the intelligent customer, both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risks

Trials planning, management and results analysis

Assessing engineering artefacts to enable project acquisition and support

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline, or will demonstrate the equivalent experience
  •  You will have experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes
  •  You will have an understanding and knowledge of radar technology or applicable sensors experience (from within a land, maritime and/or air environment)
