The Defence Quality Assurance Field Force (DQA-FF) is the primary organisation within Ministry of Defence (MOD) for the delivery of Government Quality Assurance Surveillance (GQAS) during all phases of defence capability acquisition and they are looking for experienced Quality Assurance Engineers to join Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) as a Section Leader on location at Marshall Aerospace.

Government Quality Assurance (GQA) provides confidence to the Acquirer that contractual requirements related to quality are performed effectively. This is achieved through the deployment of subject matter experts (SMEs) who apply GQAS techniques within the defence supply chain throughout the project life cycle. These techniques are applied at Management System, process, or product level, and are based on an assessment of the supplier’s capability and

As our successful Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, You will be appointed as a Section Leader responsible for managing 3-4 Quality Engineers who are based at Marshall Aerospace, Airport House, The Airport, Cambridge, CB5 8RY.

Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager

This is a resident Engineering Manager’s role responsible for Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers who conduct surveillance on in service transporter aircraft such as C130 for UK and NATO partners as well as a variety of suppliers in the surrounding geographical area as directed. The work is interesting and provides the opportunity to develop your knowledge.

Experience of engineering quality assurance within an engineering environment particularly gained within the air vehicle would be advantageous. Part of the role may include Flight Authorisation Certification duties in accordance with Def Stan 05-100 and Defence Condition 638. Your main activity is in support of Hercules and Historical Aircraft for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

The post will include some duty travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays. Travel to and from suppliers within the section’s area of responsibility is also expected. This travel will be arranged with reasonable notice for a healthy work/life balance, and reason home life adjustment can be made.

The (MOD) operates a QA Licencing scheme and applicants will be expected to work towards attaining a (MOD) QA licence within 2 years of joining. The (MOD) also operates a Flight authorisation Certification process, and the successful candidate will be expected to work towards a Letter of Authority within 18 months to 2 years of joining DE&S, to support the onsite aircraft flight indemnity. DQA-FF expect the successful candidate to build up their competence through Continued Professional Development, maintaining a competence log to attain a Letter of Competence for Government Quality Assurance Surveillance, again within 2 years.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

•You must have a Level 4 qualification (HNC or higher) in an Engineering or a Science subject or must be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in a Quality Assurance environment.
•Demonstrable applied knowledge of Quality Assurance within the engineering acquisition environment, supported by expertise in multiple Quality Assurance areas.
•Have a breadth of industry/manufacturing and Quality Assurance experience, gained from involvement in multiple projects and domains
•Have experience and knowledge of Aircraft Engineering Maintenance

If the outcome of the review results in an increase in the minimum salary and your salary offer falls below the new minimum, your salary will be increased to the new amount from your contracted start date. If the new minimum is less than the salary you are offered, the original salary offer will be retained.
