We’re currently recruiting for Associate IT Developers to join our forward thinking and progressive teams based in MOD HQ in Abbey Wood, Bristol, giving you a fantastic chance to form an integral part of our IM&IT function.
Supporting the implementation and maintenance of key software and systems development processes, you’ll work in an Agile software development environment to build an in depth knowledge of your technology stack with an understanding of how it fits the wider landscape. This is a standout opportunity to work with a team of subject matter experts, with scope to add a lot of value very quickly.
Responsibilities for DE&S Associate IT Developer
In this role, you will be entrusted to:
• Build code to detailed specifications, unit testing and correct code errors.
• Document unit test results to aid learning, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a quality well-engineered result.
• Ensure reviews of own work to meet compliance of agreed standards and processes.
• Participate in Agile Software Development, increasing knowledge of interactive code design, build and test.
• Grow own in-depth knowledge of your technology application stack and understand how it fits in the wider IT landscape.
• Participate in Agile Software Development, promote the methodology, interactive build and testing.
• Participate in the production of prototypes/proof of concept with senior developers’.
• Be an active part of the Application and Development community, attend meetings and participate in working groups.
• Improve capability within the function and participate in other function improvement activities.
What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• Experience of Software Engineering & Delivery within an organisation or an IT qualification.
It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Experience of working with various stakeholders and IT abilities within the business
• Ability to work both alone and with others
• Experience in JIRA
• Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Aspiring Subject Matter Expert

If the outcome of the review results in an increase in the minimum salary and your salary offer falls below the new minimum, your salary will be increased to the new amount from your contracted start date. If the new minimum is less than the salary you are offered, the original salary offer will be retained.
