DE&S (Defence Equipment & Support) are hiring an Associate IT Developer to join the Joint Asset Management Engineering Solutions (JAMES) team, here at Warminster Barracks. This is a standout opportunity to work with a team of subject matter experts, with scope to add a lot of value very quickly.

Working in an Agile software development environment, you will build an in depth knowledge of your technology stack with an understanding of how it fits the wider landscape. You will be responsible for managing the JAMES web portal which has over 4.7 million hits a year, including day to day maintenance and performance as well as web support for the JAMES application too.

Responsibilities for Associate IT Developer

In this role, you will be entrusted to:

• Build code to detailed specifications to support the customer interface web page and maintain code errors
• Ensure reviews of own work to meet compliance of agreed standards against web policies
• Participate in Agile Software Development, increasing knowledge of interactive code design, build and test to support stakeholders
• Grow own in-depth knowledge of your technology application stack and understand how it fits in the wider IT landscape
• Participate in the design of the customer facing web portal and provide proof of concept with engineers for an innovative platform
• Be an active part of the Application and Development community, attend meetings and participate in working groups

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Experience of Software Engineering & Delivery within an organisation or an IT qualification

It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JAVA and web development technologies
• Ability to interpret management information, provide valuable business insight and work alongside senior colleagues to help shape strategy and policy within their role area
• Experience in secure configuration, applying and maintaining tools, techniques and processes to identify, track, log and maintain accurate, complete and current information
• Experience in stakeholder management and communication

If the outcome of the review results in an increase in the minimum salary and your salary offer falls below the new minimum, your salary will be increased to the new amount from your contracted start date. If the new minimum is less than the salary you are offered, the original salary offer will be retained.
